It may be Sunday night here in the U.S., but in Bulgaria it's already Monday morning—which means it's the first morning of the first day of classes at our first ever Guidepost Montessori Network school. Located in the coastal resort town of Varna, Bulgaria (The city is stunning. Seriously. Google it.), Guidepost Montessori at Varna is now serving families with children ages six through twelve. Our whole team is so energized and humbled by this milestone, and we're eager to continue growing with our fantastic Varna family, Rumiana and Tsvetomir Iliev.
The beautiful country of Bulgaria reclaimed its independence when the Soviet Union fell in 1990, and has only just begun to re-introduce Dr. Maria Montessori's methods into classrooms—methods previously banned since 1945. 2009 saw the first Montessori primary school in Bulgaria open, and 2016, the first elementary school. Make that two now. And many more soon.
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about Montessori education and our school initiatives, we would love to connect. We now serve over 1000 families at 18 campuses with classes for children beginning as early as 3 months through 14 years-old. Depending on availability, we also offer the option for Spanish or Mandarin language-immersion classes.
P.S.: Tŭrsim sluzhiteli means "We're hiring!" in Bulgarian!
