Higher Ground Education Acquires Montessorium

LAKE FOREST, CA, Sept 17, 2018—Higher Ground Education has acquired Montessorium, an education company with a suite of apps centered around the Montessori approach to education. The purchase will expand the reach and power of Higher Ground’s educational platform.

Higher Ground was founded in 2016 with the mission of modernizing and mainstreaming Montessori education worldwide. Higher Ground operates multiple school brands including Guidepost Montessori, Polis World School, and Academy of Thought and Industry, which together constitute a rapidly growing school system across the US and a burgeoning international network.

Montessorium was founded in 2010 and has created seven apps for children, such as Intro to Letters and Intro to Math, and a parenting app, Primary. Montessorium's apps are based on the Montessori pedagogy, and regularly win awards and are featured by Apple in their own product launches and marketing campaigns.

Montessorium was founded by Bobby and June George, who have worked together on numerous educational projects, including Baan Dek Montessori, a Montessori school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. “We're over the moon to be able to share this news,” said Bobby George. “It’s not every day that you find total mission alignment around a core set of ideals by which your organizations share a passion. Together with their amazing team, we're extremely excited by what the future holds.”

“The acquisition of Montessorium is premised on multiple sources of value, including technology, content, and talent,” said Ray Girn, the Founder and CEO of Higher Ground Education. “In addition to the world-class apps, Montessorium has created a vast library of quality Montessori articles and videos. Montessorium’s products will provide tremendous value to our families. And the team shares our spirit of using innovation to drive Montessori education. It's an honor to have them as a part of Higher Ground.”
